The Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius

The Spiritual Exercises are named after St Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556). The Exercises grew out of Ignatius’ mystical experiences and insights which continue to speak to all who desire greater intimacy with God and inner freedom in their life and community today.  At the heart of the Spiritual Exercises is invitation to union with God and to participate in the ever expanding and evolving Christic life. For the past four centuries, spiritual directors have adapted the Exercises to meet the desires and needs of people seeking union and intimacy with God. An ever- deepening contemplative, prayerful journey integrating the evolutionary, ecological, communal and theological spirit of the Jesuit mystic Teilhard de Chardin is central to my approach.
